Apply to join Student Council a cohort of dedicated and passionate students advocating for this year’s tenets: equity, unity, and empowerment.
Position descriptions can be found in the application form. Any questions can be directed to the Vice President for Administration at studco-vpa@virginia.edu.
All candidates will be emailed regardless of whether they have been accepted, denied, or offered an interview.
APPlication timeline
General Member applications will be due September 5th at 11:59 PM. Interview requests and denials will be sent September 8th. Interviews will be conducted September 9, 10, and 11. Decisions will be released by the end of the day September 12.
Our general membership summit will be held September 19th fro 12-2pm.
Recruitment Information
Join General Membership
Student Council holds one general membership application cycle from late-August until mid-September. The general membership application is always widely publicized on Student Council social media accounts and on the website. General members have the opportunity to serve on one of the many Cabinet, Support and Access Services, Administration, or Organizations committees, and are able to rank their top three preferences on the application. Generally speaking, general members have the following requirements:
Attending a set number of Student Council General Body meetings
Attending all regular committee/agency meetings
Fulfilling a set number of training requirements with various approved modules or presentations from community organizations
Working on various committee initiatives or projects, at the direction of the Chair or Director
Students considering applying for general membership are encouraged to contact the Chair(s) or Director(s) of the committee(s) on which the would like to serve concerning the role’s requirements and skillset. Questions concerning general membership or applications should be directed to the Vice President of Administration at studco-vpa@virginia.edu.
